For the general audience reading this blog, you likely remember that old school snow cone machine used to produce what many of us considered the Cold Stone treats of the 80's. Yeah, you know the one. You would force feed ice cubes into a small opening and then crank the handle exerting millions of joules in energy until you had a blistered hand, an exhausted arm, and all you had to show for it was a miniature cup of shredded ice. Not very efficient, but definitely cool back in the day.
