Story Collection
A digital archive of where we were and what we've done.
All Stories: Oh, so you want all the dirt, huh? Well, sit down, grab a Red Bull, and start reading about the mayhem we call everyday life.
Although this story is more than a few months overdue I found myself sitting at work becoming quite nostalgic of our little alternative Valentine's getaway to the quaint little village in the heart of the Colorado Rockies, otherwise known as Copper Mountain. So being that I couldn't stop day dreaming about our skiing trip although the weather is becoming warmer by the day, I just had to finally break down and write the story of our montain adventure for all to read. Enjoy!
Homecoming at Robert Morris University has remained an important event for many of us even after graduation. Many of the alumnists make the long haul back to watch the Colonials take the field, visit the Trivia Pub, and enjoy the company of friends and family. This year, our dear friend Joey D threw in a twist. He decided it was time for him to take the plunge into the great abyss of marriage. Right now, you might be asking yourself the same thing I was when he called me late one weekday, "Are you really getting married at RMU and having your wedding there on homecoming?" Yes, that was the gameplan Joe laid out and he was sticking to it come rain, snow, or blistering hot weather.
Four score and seven.... ok so maybe not that long ago, but a semi-long time ago, nonetheless Sir Jobs-in-training and I decided to make a mini vacation out of our extended Labor Day weekend and agreed to pack up the Nerd Mobile and head East on over to the coined "couples vacation capital of the world" The Poconos. Visitors once to their humble abode we couldn't help ourselves from returning this time to enjoy the fresh air and serene surroundings their campsites had to offer.
While this could be considered a last minute trip by some, I being the organizational master I am put together the following over a period of 4 days (Ok, I can't take all the credit here....
For those of you who read the fish story ever so appropriately titled after a play on words from the ever so popular cinematic wonder, Scarface, consider this the prologue as our next adventure takes us on a whirlwind ride to Pacino's neck of the woods (okay, not quite), sunny, southern, beautiful FLORIDA!
You would have thought that I had enough of the Middle East with already having visited Qatar twice over the last year. Nope, the first two trips weren't enough so I recently made my third venture across the Atlantic to the sands of Cairo, Egypt. Despite my playful reluctance to place my body in a plane and propel myself across the seas again, I was eager to visit a city that I had only seen through television and history books. The trip itself was for business and trust me, three days of pure recruiting can take it's toll. Luckily for us, we had a colleague that was joining us who had lived in Cairo for a period of time and was able to facilitate our tourist-like behavior as we visited historical landmarks like the pyramids.
Well, I should start off by saying this story started out as just a quick, witty little blog that over the course of a weekend spawned into a story that will debut here today for the first time from my little fingertips after a much remembered trip to the Pittsburgh zoo. Let's just say that yours and my favorite geek's PETA obsessed, animal loving, pet rescuing neighbor may think of adopting me after she hears of my new love for furry and scaley friends everywhere!!
Pop the cork on the bottle of Korbel champagne, raise your glasses in the air, and drink up because we are not only celebrating the new year, but also a brand new version of the website. That's right, the site is back in full force unleashing all types of new features for your eyes to browse. Packed full of aesthetically pleasing graphics and a fair share of Web 2.0 functionality, I hope you have Javascript turned on because you are going to need it. You might be wondering where we've been for a little over a year.
It seems as though the themes this year are weddings and departures. Several of my friends have walked down the isle and another two have decided to depart this fine city of Pittsburgh for warmer, but hemispherically different locations. With Tim in Ghana, it was time for yet another going away party last Friday. One of our good friends, Craig, decided it was time for him to head west to Sunnyvale, California. As a point of reference, he is the graphically decorated and sophistically stylish man on the right in the picture to your left. I sure hope that our Steel City evangelist, Sienna Miller, had nothing to do with his decision to join the "govinator" in California.
Wow, I bet the title of this blog is probably the last thing you'd expect from me. What can I say, I'm not much of an active traveler, but get my fair share of USAir miles every once in a while, usually in mass amounts. Where am I this time? Qatar, specifically, Doha.
As far back as I can remember, I don't recall anyone orchestrating a surprise birthday party for me. Heck, I can't even remember the last time I actually went out on my birthday. Sure, I'd go out for other people's birthday, but I always stayed under the radar when it came to my own. Well, that all changed about a week ago. A number of my friends secretly devised a master plan and succeeded in pulling a fast one on me despite my belief that I knew about it the whole time. Normally, I would be posting this as a story in my "yet to be developed" story section of the site, but until then, this blog will have to suffice.
